Cellulite doesn’t have to be a frustrating fact of life!  If you are self-conscious about unsightly, dimpled skin on your thighs and buttocks, Avéli might be just the procedure you have been looking for.  We now offer Avéli cellulite treatment in Boston, Massachusetts, to help you reduce “cottage cheese” skin and feel more confident. Our practice serves people from Wellesley, Framingham, Newton, and Natick, as well as from Providence, Rhode Island; southern New Hampshire; and Vermont.

What Causes Cellulite To Appear?

Cellulite is the term for depressions on the skin’s surface, usually in the thigh and buttocks regions. These indentations are created by the interplay of fibrous bands called septa that tether your skin to the structures below. Sometimes, a push-pull effect causes septa bands to tighten and pull the skin downward while the fat pushes up around them, causing a dimpled appearance.

Cellulite is a common occurrence for women—in fact, up to 90% of women have cellulite. While it can be hereditary, cellulite’s occurrence can also be attributed to the following factors.

  • Aging
  • Weight gain
  • Hormonal changes
  • Changes in skin elasticity and quality (cellulite is more visible in thinner skin)

How Avéli Works

The Avéli device treats dimpled areas without disrupting surrounding skin tissues. It uses an established, innovative 3-step treatment approach to smoother skin by precisely targeting and releasing the septa bands that cause cellulite.

Here’s what to expect during Avéli treatment:

  1. Dr. Davidson guides the device under the skin to the target area.
  2. He identifies the septa band causing the dimple and releases it.
  3. Dr. Davidson is able to verify treatment success in real time, giving you visibly smoother skin after a single treatment that lasts about an hour.

While Avéli effectively treats cellulite dimples, it does not treat pockets of fat or skin laxity. Patients seeking a fat reduction treatment are better candidates for a body contouring treatment like liposuction or nonsurgical CoolSculpting.

Avéli FAQ

Q. Am I a good candidate for Avéli cellulite treatment?

A. If you’re looking for a lasting reduction of bothersome cellulite dimples (versus fat reduction) and are in good overall health, Avéli treatment is probably right for you. Ideal candidates have minimal skin laxity and localized fat. During your individualized consultation, Dr. Davidson will confirm if Avéli is the best treatment for your aesthetic needs.  If you also have extra fatty deposits, Avéli treatment can also be combined with liposuction.

Q. What is recovery after Avéli like?

A. Avéli requires little downtime, and most patients resume regular activities within 24 to 48 hours. After treatment, you may experience some mild bruising or tenderness, but this gradually resolves within 30 days.

Q. Is the treatment painful?

A. Avéli is a minimally invasive, well-tolerated treatment. Dr. Davidson uses local anesthesia or alternately sedation if preferred by the patient.

Q. Will I need multiple treatments?

A. Most patients achieve visibly smoother skin after a single treatment.
